Antioxidants are molecules that can help your body fight off harmful free radicals, which are unstable atoms that can damage cells, causing illness and aging or many diseases like cancer.
Free radicals are produced either from normal cell metabolisms in situ or from external sources (pollution, cigarette smoke, radiation, medication).
Our body generates antioxidants on its own or with the help from the food we eat.
They’re found in many plant-based foods. Vitamin E and C are examples.
Here is a list of foods rich in antioxidants:
- Berries
- Lemons
- Avocados
- Carrots
- Dark chocolate
- Tomatoes
- Spinach
- Green tea
- Broccoli
- Kale
- Apple
- Nuts
- Bell pepper
And many more!
With regular exercise and having colorful veggies, we can be sure to fight off the damage our body takes and ensure our health.
